Blumstein Brewing Co. is a craft brewery located in rural Manitoba on a former dairy farm in the village once known as Blumstein. Rooted in Mennonite culture and prairie farm life, the brand is all about having a little fun with Mennonite heritage, foods, and language, brewing with local ingredients, fostering community, and celebrating local craft brewing.

The branding reflects the brewery’s dairy farm origins, the village name, and the founder’s Mennonite culture in a playful way. A cow skull with flowers combines both the dairy component and the village of “Blumstein,” which translates from German to English as “flower-stone.” 

The hand-crafted, flat graphic style and bold colour palette draw from vintage milk bottle and crate designs. Faspa Farmhouse Ale features a Mennonite-inspired quilt pattern that’s bold, playful, and intentionally uses a cultural component as a fun detail to draw the eye in a sea of can designs. Faspa is a quintessential Mennonite term for a light Sunday lunch or snack of buns, cheese, jam, pickles, and cold cuts. This farmhouse ale is brewed to pair perfectly with faspa.

A quippy beer description and whimsical details — like a cow grazing on the barcode and a faspa-insipred icon — encourage the customer to take their time and explore a lighthearted take on Mennonite culture.
